Shawn
There are any number of reasons why I love being a photographer, not the least of which is interacting with people. I am as I have always been a people kind of person in that I enjoy meeting new folks; it is that newness which I thrive on, that being said just because I have known someone for awhile does not mean there isn’t more to learn about that person so I continually challenge myself to try to do more with the same muse, Shawn is one of those muses.
Continuously working with the same muses also helps establish and further strengthen rapport, which is a really good tool when photographing people, that establishment of trust between artist and subject. It also enables the subject to start throwing out their ideas as well and then it truly becomes a collaborative effort which I strive to achieve.
I haven’t known Shawn for very long; I would say about five years and though she isn’t one of my ‘old muses’ per se, I already have an inkling that she will be that for me in 10 to 15 years.
A little bit of a background Shawn is a mechanic and a weekend on-air radio personality; she loves to skateboard as well, it is her diversity that brought me to her. I try to find something distinct with the muses I work with, I am not always successful but I try.
This set of Shawn is again a pairing of my new gear the Fujifilm X-T4 and my lenses the Fujifilm XF50mm f/1 and the Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8. I have been taking these out lately as this particular camera and lenses are new to me and as such these are both an exercise in gear knowledge building as well as a chance to be creative.
I did not use any of my lights for this particular shoot and this actually didn’t take very long to do. I will on the next blog post bring out my Profoto B10’s to see how that whole combination will work out. In the meantime please take a look at the photos of Shawn below and please let me know what you think. Thank you!
