Mira + Fujifilm X-H2S
I begin the new year, 2023, with another new muse and using my Fujifilm X-H2S more. The Fuji camera line has been there for me since my first one, the X100 I bought used from a friend in mid-2012, and what a wonderful little camera from then; I bought a used X-Pro1, then an XT-1. It grew from there to a full-blown LOVE for the Fujifilm Cameras.
I have owned the X-Pro2, XT-2, XT-3, XT-4 and have traded and sold to upgrade; and I recently purchased the X-H2s as well as the XT-5, and I use all Fujifilm for my paid work. I still do photojournalism when I am asked, I recently was on assignment for The Washington Post, my first time with them, and that was exciting! I also still do weddings and portraits, and create content for social media.
This is where I meet my muses; I love meeting and creating with new folks as all I do is collaborative; it is never only my ideas but an amalgamation of minds. I did as I always do a model call out, and the response this year was terrific, LOTS of new folks, young and not young, men and women and even kids, that I can photograph for my stock work!
Mira was the first person I photographed this year with my new way of doing things for myself. I do a sort of hybrid shooting, doing stills and videos. I meet with potential models on a Sunday and do a meet and greet, so on the actual shoot, we’re not strangers, but I also photograph the meet and greet to gather content. We then do an actual shoot the following Saturday, and then the following Friday, I release a video on YouTube; for those that are on my Patreon, I release the video there ahead of time, and on Patreon, they get more of my take as well as behind the scenes videos, explaining my process.
